JUBILANT players from Doncaster Rugby League Club topped off their title-winning season with a colourful open top bus parade before excited fans.
Supporters came out to cheer their heroes as they made their way from the Keepmoat Stadium to a civic reception at the Mansion House.
The champs enjoyed a glittering campaign, sealing both the Championship One and Grand Final titles - the first time in the club?s history the side has picked up silverware.
And as reward for their sterling efforts players were able to celebrate the success with fans on the parade through town centre streets on Saturday morning.
Fans were quick to praise the club?s success - a 16-13 Grand Final win over Barrow Raiders and the league title ensuring they will be competing in the Championship next season.
Mark Mellor, of Bentley, said: ?I think it?s great what they have done for the town. I went along to a few of the matches this season with my friend and was very impressed by what I saw.
?For a long time the Dons have been the laughing stock of rugby league but I think this time Doncaster have had the last laugh.?
Rugby lover John Croft, of Balby, said: ?It is richly deserved. They have been fantastic this season and I think a bus parade is the icing on the cake.
?I think the town can be very proud of what the club has achieved.?
Sandra Keith, of Hyde Park, admitted she wasn?t a follower but said: ?It?s brilliant. I am really pleased for them - it puts the town on the map.?
Mayor Peter Davies told fans at the Mansion House: ?We?ve waited 61 years for this and a lot of us have seen the club in fairly low spirits from time to time.
?The club is now on a sound financial basis thanks to Carl Hall and John Scarrow, and we?ve now got the results on the field as well.?
Dons? chief executive Carl Hall said: ?This day has been a long time coming in the club?s history and it?s fabulous that we can have a parade to mark the occasion with the fans.
?A day like this is thoroughly deserved - the supporters have been fantastic this season.?
Dons? scrum half Craig Fawcett said: ?It?s a really good occasion for all the boys and for all the fans as well.
?It?s been a long time coming for Doncaster, it?s a really good achievement and it?s nice of the council to recognise it as well.?
Chairman John Scarrow said: ?It?s a day that everybody will remember whether you?re a player, backroom staff or a fan.
It took 61 years for us to win our first silverware and then we win six accolades within 14 days.?
Coach Tony Miller said: ?You?ve got to give a lot of credit to the major and the council for putting it on for us. The players enjoyed it and myself and all the people associated with the club did so as well. It?s a real honour for us.?

Players posed for photographs on the main staircase before proceeding to the main ballroom for a buffet and then stepping out on to the balcony to soak up the cheers of the crowd.
