Gold Coast Acoustic Cafe presents ?Big Break? Showcase Series at The Great Neck Arts Center, New York
Great Neck, NY (September 20, 2012) On three special nights: Saturday November 10 2012, Saturday December 8 2012, and Saturday January 12 2013 please join Love Revolution Org and the Great Neck Arts Center as they search for the next big thing to come off Long Island ? with a little help from some of their friends in the music industry ? as the Gold Coast Acoustic Cafe presents ?Big Break? Showcase Series at The Great Neck Arts Center, located at 113 Middle Neck Road, Great Neck NY. Doors open at 730pm and the first act will perform starting at 8pm. Price is $5 for students and $10 for adults.
Starting today, September 20, 2012, there is an open call for submissions for all musicians age 12 to 25 that does not currently have a recording or publishing contract to submit for the showcase events; interested artists must perform with an acoustic guitar or to a backing music track, no full bands please. Semi finalists will then be chosen from all online submissions and notified via phone to perform on one of the aforementioned dates (Saturday November 10 2012 or Saturday December 8 2012) for the many music business executives, producers, radio & TV personalities, and special guests they have slated and confirmed to appear and critique the acts including: Richard Pawelczyk ? Webster Hall(who are offering an opening slot for a national act to the winner), David Caggiano ? Betamax Recording Studios (who are offering a one song recording to the winner), Linda Ingrisano ? Five Towns College (who are offering a one hour mentoring session to the winner), Steve Tramposch ? Launchpad Entertainment (former Elektra and Capitol A&R exec offering a consultation deal to the winner), Jerry Lembo ? Jerry Lembo Entertainment Group (offering a one hour music industry tutoring call to the winner), Guy Brogna ? All Music Inc (who is offering a $250 gift certificate to the winner) and others such as Adam Craig Ellis ? The Paramount, Peter Abraham ? BB Kings Blues Club, Rob Lyons ? Madison Square Garden, Sam Fruner ? Loaded Rock Shows, Tito Batista ? Black Rose Productions, Randy Nichols ? Force Management, Jerry Lembo ? Jerry Lembo Entertainment Group, Rob Rush ? Radio Personality, Bill Edwards ? Radio Personality, Bernadette Giacomazzo ? Writer/Photographer, Matthew Reich ? Lights Resolve, Billy and Bobby Allesi ? Alessi Brothers, Cathy Henderson ? Judging will be based on performance, raw talent & overall presentation of their songs ? and will count for 2/3 of the total vote tally. The remaining 1/3, which very well could sway the vote to decide who will get their ?Big Break?, will be based on audience participation. As people enter the room, they will be given a ballot with the names of the four finalists performing for that night which can be filled out and turned in after the 3rd band has performed, not before. As a special bonus, all artists who submit for the contest but are not chosen to perform will be allowed to attend both showcase dates for FREE to network!
Additionally, two very special local performers who have had success in the music business will perform as the headline act on each night while the judges deliberate their choices ? on Saturday November 10 people will be thrilled by the 14 year old singer/songwriter/guitarist and overall music prodigy from Oyster Bay, Charlie Dane and on Saturday December 8 2012, attendees will enjoy Long Island?s own International recording artist John Hampson of the band Nine Days who had a number #1 radio hit with ?Absolutely (Story of a Girl), The finals for the Showcase will be held on Saturday January 12 2013, where the top two acts from each night will perform to win prizes listed above and even more TBD such as recording and rehearsal time, photo and video shoots, publicity and promotion, radio and TV campaigns, musical equipment, the chance to open for national acts at major venues and in depth consultation with some of the best and brightest people in music today!!
