Brooklyn on Parade at New York City Wine and Food Festival's Brooklyn's Backyard

Skylight One Hanson was brimming with some serious borough pride this weekend at New York City Wine and Food Festival's Brooklyn's Backyard event. 28 local chefs turned out to deliver signature bites to the hungry crowd, serving up everything from spicy lemongrass chicken larb to fudgy ice cream sandwiches. If you can imagine dropping the Brooklyn Flea's Smorgasberg into the middle of a nightclub with an open bar, you'd have a rough approximation of the experience.

The main difference was that with old-school institutions like Acme Smoked Fish and Junior's in attendance alongside newcomers like TALDE and Der Kommissar, the event was as much a celebration of the borough's rich culinary history as its more recent (and explosive) growth.

I may only be a Brooklyn transplant, but with the affair housed in the iconic Williamsburg Savings Bank building and hosted by borough native Adam Richman of Man v. Food, I felt like shouting out an accented Brook-LYN! on more than one occasion. Music was pumping, wine and beer were flowing, and the venue was packed; luckily the chefs kept things moving like clockwork, and the only long line was the one for photo ops with the charismatic Richman. Check out the photos of our favorite dishes in the slideshow.
