As eliminated American Idol contestant Casey Abrams sang his swan song last week, he seemed to confirm the rumors that he and Idol hopeful Hayley Reinhart were indeed an item. Singing the words "you're mine" while looking into Reinhart's eyes, Abrams seemed ready to come clean with their romance.
But, instead, Abrams insists that he was just bidding farewell to a good pal.
"I was just saying goodbye to my very special musical friend," Abrams told Life & Style. "That's all that was. We are not a romantic couple, we were never dating."
Boo, Casey! We love a good behind-the-scenes hookup!
Even though the 20-year-old may not be leaving Idol with the love of his life, the talented Abrams says he is heading home with plenty of great memories. Besides being saved early on in the competition by the judges, Casey says he has found true friends in the other contestants.
"The experience of living with all these other serious singers, that really made the experience what it is," he says. "That's what I will miss most about it, to be honest."
Next Wednesday, the Top 5 will perform one current song and one from the 1960s during "Now and Then" week. Then on Thursday's results show judge, Jennifer Lopez performs her new single, "On the Floor."
